The curative factors of psychodrama applied to hospitalized psychiatric patients


Abstract
In order to invesgate the curative factors of psychodrama we evaluated the 11 therapeutic factors that had been introduced by Yalom in the protagonists of psyhciatric inpatients. The protagonists were 38 patients who were hospitalized in Wonkwang
University Psychiatric Hospital from Sep. 1994 to Aug. 1995. We studied demographic characteristics of the protagonist and the difference of curative factors between realistic group of protagonist and unrealistic protagonist group.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) The demographicl characteristics were that mean age of protagonist was 27.9¡¾5.8, sex ratio of male and female was 22(57.9%): 16(42.1%), marrital status of protagonists were single 12(31.6%) married 12(31.6%) and divorced 4(10.5%), and
religious
status of protagonist were christian 24(63.2%), irreligion 8(21.1%), catholic 5(13.2%) and other was 1(2.6%). Also, mean educational year of protagonist was 12.4 3.8 years and mean hospitalization period was 58.8¡¾21.7 months.
2) The psychiatric diagnosis of the protagonist were composed of schizophrenic and schizophreniform disorder 18(47.4%), mood disorder 13(34.2%), schizoaffective disorder 3(7.9%), personality disorder 2(5.3%), alcohol dependence 1(2.6%) and
organic
mental disorder 1(2.6%).
3) The important curative factors which was evaluated by director and auxillary ego were catharsis, instillation of hope, and group cohesiveness in order.
4) There was no difference in the curative factors between realistic group and unrealistic group except imitative behavior(p<0.05)
